TIM COOK WINS
THE 2009 CHARLES TAYLOR PRIZE FOR LITERARY NON-FICTION

THE WINNER OF the 2009 Charles Taylor Prize for Literary Non-Fiction is Tim Cook for Shock Troops: Canadians Fighting the Great War, 1917ñ1918, Volume Two, published by Viking Canada. The winner announcement was made by the prize jury, composed of author Warren Cariou, author and journalists Jeffrey Simpson, and art and culture expert Shirley Thomson, during a gala luncheon in downtown Toronto at Le Meridien King Edward Hotel.

World renowned designer Karim Rashid collaborated with House of Vueve Clicquot to design the “Globalight” Inspired by Vueve Clicquot Rose, Globalight is a multifunctional design object representing modern romanticism  which provides light without warming the champagne.

Vueve Clicqot hosted the opening party at the International Design Show on Feb 5, 2009, which was held at the Direct Energy Building in Toronto.

Noreen Taylor,prize founder and chair of the Charles Taylor Foundation, announced at a press conference on Jan 6, 2009  that the jury for the 2009 Charles Taylor Prize for Non Fiction read 135 Canadian-authored books ,submitted by 43 publishers from across Canada. Mrs Taylor went to to introduce Mr Jeffery Simpson, one of the jurors, who announced the short listed authors:
